Dean of School of Management Wenjing Li led a Delegation to Australia Attending the AACSB 2023 Asia-Pacific Annual Accreditation Conference

From June 5th to 7th, a delegation led by Wenjing Li, Dean of the School of Management, Jinan University, including Vice Dean Zishan Ling, Assistant Dean and Director of the International Affairs Office Jun Qi, along with the International Accreditation Assistant Zhiying Zhou, attended the 2023 Asia-Pacific Accreditation Annual Conference of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) in Sydney, Australia. During the conference, Jun Qi was invited by AACSB to deliver a keynote speech representing the School of Management, Jinan University.

The conference was hosted by the University of Technology Sydney. Through various sessions such as theme conferences and accreditation Q&A, the conference focused on accreditation standards and the diverse development of business schools, offering a wealth of practical cases and sharing experiences. It attracted more than 250 representatives of 114 institutions and organizations from 21 countries and regions across Asia-Pacific and other parts of the world.

During the session, Jun Qi and Terence Fan, the Academic Director of Lee Kong Chian School of Business, Singapore Management University, delivered speeches on the topic of "Intellectual Contributions Beyond the Academic Field," emphasizing the social responsibility of academic institutions. Jun Qi highlighted the School of Management's strategies and practices in low carbon and sustainable development. She emphasized the school's strong commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the integration of SDGs into its strategic objectives to enhance the school's social impact. To achieve the goal, the school has implemented the "3+1 Green Strategy" framework, which promotes the establishment of a regional low carbon economy research center and encourages faculty members to contribute their expertise in low carbon and sustainable development through research, teaching, and social services. Furthermore, Jun Qi showcased the School of Management's significant achievements in low carbon and sustainable development under this strategy. These include the school undertook World Bank Technical Assistance Project "Research and Formulation of China’s Accounting Standards for the Carbon Carbon Emission Trading under the Background of Green Development", offered interdisciplinary courses on "Carbon Neutralization and Carbon Peak" and Professional courses on "Carbon Accounting", as well as established group standards for large-scale seaweed carbon sinks, carbon footprint assessments, and carbon accounting in the maritime transport industry of Guangdong Province. Following the keynote speeches, Jun Qi and Terence Fan engaged in interactive Q&A sessions with the attendees. Many guests expressed great interest in the School of Management's practical initiatives and had in-depth exchanges with the speakers, creating an enthusiastic atmosphere.

The School of Management, Jinan University is one of only two mainland Chinese institutions invited to deliver speeches for the event, thus making its social influence and international reputation further enhanced. This conference also provided an excellent platform for the school to understand the latest AACSB accreditation standards, comprehend advanced experiences of business schools in the Asia-Pacific region, and strengthen the quality assurance of management education. It also facilitated the increasing exchanges and cooperation between the School of Management, and AACSB or friendly institutions.
