On October 19th, the AACSB-hosted Faculty Standards and Tables Seminar was convened at the College of Management and Economics, Tianjin University. The seminar was led by Geoff PERRY, AACSB's Executive Vice President, Chief Membership Officer, and Managing Director Asia-Pacific, and gathered 40 representatives from institutions across the country attended. Weiyuan HUANG, International Accreditation Assistant representing School of Management, JINAN UNIVERSITY, also attended the seminar.

The seminar mainly discussed "Faculty and Professional Staff Resources" (Standard 3) and "Impact of Scholarship" (Standard 8) of the AACSB's latest standards for accreditation. Through authoritative interpretations and practical exercises, participants were guided on how to present their faculty's intellectual contributions, sufficiency, qualification status, engagement, and faculty deployment in reports and tables. It also explored development opportunities in faculty training and research areas from existing data.

Geoff PERRY emphasized the complementary nature of “Faculty and Professional Staff Resources” with “Impact of Scholarship”, their relevance to faculty development and research work in business schools, and the technical challenges institutions often face during AACSB accreditation process. AACSB reviews its standards annually, adapting parts of the basis for judgment and suggested documentation to suit institutions worldwide. “Faculty and Professional Staff Resources” and “Impact of Scholarship” marked a particular focus in the revised version of this year. AACSB carries out seminars like these in order to help institutions familiarize themselves more comprehensively with the information required in these two standards, delve into the deep connections between faculty development, research work, and the institution's strategic planning, and learn from innovative practices of other institutions during the accreditation process.

Through this seminar, SoM gained in-depth insights into international accreditation and the latest trends in business education development, laying a solid foundation for re-accreditation. It also deepened exchanges with peer institutions, expanding its network of accredited partners. SoM remains committed to its "Leveraging development with accreditation" approach, enhancing the institution's overall strength by benchmarking and implementing international standards, and propelling the institution to “Join the Mainstream, Lead the Trend”.
