Case Empowerment for Business Education Development in Universities - Case Development and Teaching Seminar of Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macao and South China Business Schools Successfully Held

On October 18, 2021, the Case Empowerment for Business Education Development in Universities - Case Development and Teaching Seminar of Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macao and South China Business Schools jointly organized by School of Management of Jinan University, CEIBS Case Center and Huazhang Branch of Machinery Industry Press was successfully held in School of Management, Jinan University. Thirty-three participants from 16 business schools in Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macao and South China and Huawei attended the seminar, which aimed to promote the development of case teaching in business schools in Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macao and South China and to discuss the practical experience and thinking of high-quality case development and teaching.

  

  

The meeting started with a welcome speech by Professor Li Wenjing, Dean of School of Management, Jinan University. Professor Li said that Jinan University is a national double first-class university and one of the first national institutions of higher education to offer business education in China. The School of Management has always been committed to cultivating high-end talents with strategic vision and international outlook, and the School has always attached great importance to the case teaching work.The School hopes to strengthen cooperation with CEIBS and link high-end case resources to help the high-quality development of teaching of the School.

 

Prof. Chen Shimin, Director of CEIBS Case Center, shared his thoughts concerning case teaching, development and publication, introducing the development of case teaching, the main methods of case development, and the paths and standards of case publication to the participants. Chen Shimin said that the number of case library users and the number of teachers using the cases are steadily increasing, and one of the goals of The Global Platform of China Cases (an international business administration case bank in China run by CEIBS) is to become an important source of high-quality Chinese thematic cases, hoping to work together with sister institutions to build a high-quality case library to empower the development of university business education.

  

  

In the institutional seminar session, deans and faculty members from major business schools exchanged and discussed their challenges, reflections and experiences in case teaching. Participants from the University of Macau, Guangxi University of Finance and Economics, Hainan University, South China Normal University, Jinan University, Shenzhen University and Lingnan College of Sun Yat-sen University shared their experiences. Dr. Xu Leiping, Assistant Director of CEIBS Case Center, introduced the construction and development of The Global Platform of China Cases.
