School of Management, Jinan University Receives AACSB’s “2024 Innovations That Inspire” Recognition
On 12th February, AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) announced the 2024 Innovations That Inspire, which credited School of Management, Jinan University for its Carbon Emission Accounting Guidelines for Maritime Transport Enterprises (Guidelines) as one of the honorees. School of Management, Jinan University is the only institution in China among the 26 award-winning business schools listed this year.
The proposed Guidelines was conducted under Jinan University's Key Laboratory of Human-Nature Life Community, responding to the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on climate action and to China’s carbon-peak and carbon-neutrality goals. Taking full advantage of the interdisciplinary research platform of Jinan University and the industries with regional characteristics, the Guidelines is a fruit of combining the wisdom and strengths of various parties. It aims to provide a basis for a standardized accounting system in carbon emissions for maritime transport enterprises as well as statistical support for government reports and policy formulation. The Guidelines has been published on China’s National Association Standard Information Platform in March 2023.
The AACSB Innovations That Inspire is dedicated to commending the unique ways that business schools initiate to create value for stakeholders, and to highlight the impact of business schools in teaching, scientific research, social services and entrepreneurship, etc.. The award-winning institutions, together with the SoM-JNU, are University College London, Purdue University, Georgetown University and other world-renowned universities.
In recent years, with the backing of international exchange platforms for business schools and the brand effects of three major accreditations, namely AACSB, AMBA and BGA, SoM has made great efforts to accomplish the strategy of “Levering development with accreditation” and the development goal of “Joining the mainstream and leading the trends”. SoM interprets China’s practice with Chinese theory, to form new concepts, categories and expressions and to uplift its international impact. Moving forward, the school will continue to align itself with prestigious business schools around the world by contributing to the U.N. SDGs and to the building of a community with a shared future for humanity.
